Zumba for daysss - WEEK 13

Image
Hey yall! Officially finished my first transfer! Yesterday also marked 3 months of me being a missionary. Time is flying by waaaaay too fast. But this week was good :)  We had about 12 meals and so many bags of groceries delivered to our apartment from ward members this week which was WILD. A ton of the food was from our good friend Jordan- the one who takes us and the elders out to eat at least once a week and always brings us Ben & Jerry's ice cream. So thankful for him! Obviously Sister Pocock and I couldn't finish all of the food we were given, so we ended up bringing a ton to our neighbors, mailman, and some UPS guys haha. It was a great way to love and serve them and get to know them better!  Tyela and Cianna are two girls from our ward who we absolutely adore. They stopped by a few days ago to visit and got each of us Easter bags with all these cute gifts, journals, pictures, candy, and the sweetest letters. They're both angels.  For our daily morning ex...

28 Tornadoes - WEEK 12

Image
Busiest and most fun week of the mission so far :)) Last Wednesday, we were on tornado warning! That was very exciting. Apparently 28 tornadoes passed through Alabama and Mississippi but luckily we all stayed safe! We went to Chick-fil-a with our district earlier that day and joked "I guess this'll be our last meal on earth! See yall on the other side!"  We had more lessons this week than I've had in my entire mission and started teaching a couple dozen wonderful new people! We gave out a heck ton of Books of Mormon too. I felt so much love for every one of the people we taught and can't wait to get to know them better! Also did some more teaching with "the quad" AKA dream team AKA Elder Hart, Elder Thomason, Sister Pocock, and I. We got to chat with some of the people the Hermanas are teaching for a bit which was so fun!! It was also nice to practice Spanish with native speakers. The only things E. Thomason could say were "buena suerte" and ...

COOKIE DEALER, PART II – WEEK 11

Spring is finally here!! The trees and flowers all around town started blooming a few days ago and they're absolutely beautiful. Last P day, 8 of the elders, Sister Pocock, and I went to downtown Nashville since I had never been before! It was awesome! There was live music everywhere, tons of cool stores, and a lot of murals. We also played a sick game of volleyball on sand courts. I got to talk to my sweet grandparents that night since they're visiting my mom and Marc in Hawaii right now!! I love and miss them with all my heart :,))  On Thursday we met up with our district and the Harpeth district, and brought a ton of food to some homeless people under the bridges downtown! It was so nice getting to know these people and hearing a bit of their life stories. They were so kind and humble. We got to share with each of them how much God loves them! After that, us missionaries all got lunch together and ate at a cool park that overlooked downtown Nash and the Cumberland River. W...

LET ALL YOU DO BE DONE IN LOVE – WEEK 10

Image
Not sure how I forgot to mention this before but David Archuleta is in my ward!! It's not like the majority of my friends and I know every single one of his songs and he's on a great amount of my old spotify playlists haha. Shoutout to him for being famous and for being a fantastic member of the church! Last P day, we went to the mall and a bunch of stores with our district! We also went to the Parthenon with the other Nashville zones to play volleyball again. We played some more basketball with our ward and the elders that night. This week we had exchanges, which is when the missionaries switch companions for the day so they can learn from another person! Pocock and I switched with Hermana Higley and Hermana Harris, who are the other two girls in our district. It was fantastic to work with another Hermana for the day. I got to teach a few lessons in Spanish, which was incredibly fun. I was surprised how comfortable I felt after not practicing for so long! The gift of tongues i...

PET SQUIRRELL?? – WEEK 9

Wednesdays are always our days off and the day we get to do fun things around town with our district and other missionaries :) This morning we met up with our district at IHOP. The manager came out, greeted all 8 of us, and said it made her day to see missionaries from the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She thanked us so much for the light we share! Then when we got our checks back, they had given us the employee discount and all of our meals were 50% off. So thankful. Last Wednesday was also so fun!! We met up with some elders and sisters from the Harpeth ward, which is another area of Nashville. We all played pickleball and volleyball outside since it was so warm and sunny! Then we went to the Parthenon and there were like 50 other missionaries there playing spikeball, volleyball, and football all together. I got to meet tons of new pals which was super nice after being stuck inside for a week. Afterward, Sister Pocock and I went with Elder Thomason and Hart to Sonic. T...
