Hermana twin towers - WEEK 19
I'm so in love with Tennessee's beautiful landscapes and the rolling green hills. I could definitely see myself moving back here after the mission! My whole heart is right here!
Last week we celebrated our last P day all together by having a big breakfast at the Harpeth sisters' apartment! Threw some more confetti eggs at each other. Then we all went to the mission office for transfers! Got to see a bunch of old friends like Elder Thomason who's serving in Tullahoma. Said goodbye to Sister Pocock, Elder Wilstead, Hermana Higley, and Elder & Sister Griffin :(( Then we went to the chapel to meet our trainees! The wonderful sister missionary I'm training this transfer is Hermana Petersen!! She's from Utah and is such a sweetheart. She's also almost as tall as me! So we walk around meeting people and all they can say is "wow you're both really tall!" Or "twin towers coming through!" Love it. She's such a good missionary already and so prepared for the work!
Hermana Petersen and I went to some meetings with President and Sister Weaver and all the other trainers and trainees later that day then back to our apartments! We ended up driving the Harpeth sisters home because one of their old companions accidentally took their car keys with her to Kentucky when she got transferred. LOL! That night, Jordan brought us shakes and cookies to welcome Hermana Petersen into the ward! So sweet.
On her first full day in the mission, we taught an awesome plan of salvation lesson with Andrew! Institute is on Thursday now and we've been studying the millenium and the Second Coming! Got to meet the new elder in our district- Elder Allman! He's awesome!
Friday was such a warm sunny day so we did most of our work outside and had a picnic by the pool :) We had a quad lesson with the elders and our friend Anthony! He and his girlfriend Amanda both really want to be baptized. He is super musically talented, has an INCREDIBLE voice, and can literally sit down and play anything on the piano. He blessed us with some sweet tunes after the lesson.
On Saturday morning we had a relief society brunch with the girls in the ward and Amanda came! Nadia moved back home that afternoon so we stopped by to say goodbye to her. I only cried a lot. I love that girl and her sweet heart :,,(( Taught some more lessons that day and talked to a ton of people walking their dogs in the park by the church about the gospel!
That night we had the coolest lesson with our friend Pete at a restaurant called Baja Burrito. Truman from the ward came to help teach the restoration! He got back from his mission in Russia right before the start of covid and he has such a strong testimony! We gave Pete a Book of Mormon and he said he knows it'll change his life and can't wait to get into it :D
Sunday!! Mother's Day! So thankful for all the moms out there :)) Church was great and all the girls got roses, candy, and little succulents from the elders quorum presidency. Andrew and Liza from the ward also gave Hermana Petersen and I some really sweet cards and mothers day treats! Got to call my family and my mom! I miss her so much and can't wait to hug her again.
We also had more thunderstorms and rain downpours this week and spent a lot of our breaks running through the church parking lot with E. Hart and E. Gee and getting soaked. Such good mems.
District council & district lunch was another highlight! Went to Pete's new house that afternoon to help him unpack! We ended up talking with him for several hours about the Plan of Salvation, temples, baptism, and a bunch of other gospel principles! The spirit was so strong! Then he came to FHE with us which consisted of lots of basketball. We played a game of 5 on 5 for a long while which was a blast! After all our games we had a jam session with the ward. Anthony showed off more of his piano skills and a few more guys like Ethan and Spencer played their guitars as we all sang along. My heart = full. I love the YSA :)
Tuesday we had 7 lessons! Got to teach Jackson for the first time in a while. He started his own business not too long ago and has gotten super busy with sales and work so we haven't been able to see him much but the lesson was really good! Went out to brunch with this super sweet girl named Sim and taught her about faith, the Atonement, God's love for her, and had some really nice discussions :) After brunch we visited some friends and people we're teaching and brought them banana bread! Sasha moved back to Ukraine last week but we still got to video chat and teach her some more about our church! She'll be back in the fall and wants to meet with missionaries in person again soon!
For Tuesday night dinner, Andrew made us some terrific southern food- tons of steak, potatoes, macaroni, vegetables, etc. Made smores outside afterward and talked about life :))
Something wack- we were notified by President Weaver that there's a gas shortage on this end of the country right now and we need to get gas ASAP then not use our mission vehicles until further notice. A bunch of our friends called us panicking because their tanks were empty and they went around to a dozen gas stations in town and ALL of them were out of gas. We called around Nashville to find a station we could fill up at and finally found one that had just a little bit of regular gas left! So we got some but we'll likely be doing a lot more walking and biking in the near future until this clears up!
One of my favorite New Testament stories has been coming to my mind a lot this week. In Matthew 14, it talks about when the disciples see Jesus walking out on the sea. Peter says, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" When the storms of life come upon us, we need to stay faithful! No matter how hard it may seem, we can rely on our Savior and look to Him to save us. Rely on your faith. Rely on His matchless love. Find hope in His promises. Ask Him for help! He will grant us strength and guidance. Jesus Christ knows us perfectly. When you're drowning, take His hand and He'll put you out of the waves :))
Love ya
Stay groovy
